SNOOPE DOG on the trail

Let's hear it for the SNOOPE DOG! Sounds like he's on the trail once again!
Invoices for TAX Bill Boards going to the School Board's mail box?
Various people of notoriety maybe just a little too close to the flame?
Just what is the age to be putting out signs on the road?
The trail is getting hot!
When hunting is good, look out for the SNOOPE DOG!
By the way, could anyone tell if the Board of Education actually lobbying for the referendum?

An excert from the Week's Smokey Mountain News.

A complaint filed against the Macon County School Board over questionable campaign actions has the school district in hot water with the North Carolina Board of Elections.

The state Board of Elections is investigating whether the district disclosed money raised and spent to support a bond referendum that will appear on the Nov. 6 ballot, said Amy Strange, a state board of elections campaign finance specialist.

In August, the Macon County school board voted to approve $5,000 towards the marketing of the bond. Flyers, billboards and yard signs were made and started popping up throughout town, with the phrase “vote yes for children.”

When the school district placed the word “yes” in its informational material about the school bond, school officials crossed the line. Spending public money to sway the voters on how to vote for the bond upset a resident who filed a complaint with the Macon County Board of Elections.

Macon County Elections Supervisor Kim Bishop said she turned the complaint over to the state once she received it. Strange has been investigating the Macon case but was unable to disclose any information. If the school district is found guilty, there are several civil penalties that could be applied.

COULD THIS HAPPEN HERE? Snoope's on the trail.

"Citizens for Education" appointed treasurer, Christine Vann Colcord, whom filed paperwork with the Swain County Board of Elections, 17 Oct 07, one day before the start of "One stop voting". The mailing address for this committee is POB 777, Bryson City, N.C. 28713. The phone number given for the treasurer is listed as 828-488-1168, which just happens to be the phone number of United Community Bank, on Slope St., where this person is an employee. According to General Manager of Allison Sign Company located in Sylva, N.C. Ms. Colcord in person, requested two billboards installation promoting the passage of the Land Transfer Tax in Swain County and then according to written records of Allison Sign Co. requested the invoice be sent to 245 School Dr., Bryson City, N.C. 28713, which just happens to be the mailbox located at the School Annex on School House Hill in Bryson City.
A sidecar to all this information is: the Assistant Treasurer is listed as: Sue King, which just happens to be the Mother of Kevin King, County Manager, which is the nephew of Phil Carson, County Commissioner, and first cousin to Cindi Woodard, Administrative Secretary to Swain County. When confronted at a County Commission meeting about the family connections and the reported information that a County Administrator was visiting the real estate office to lobby for the passage of the Land Transfer Tax, the response was, "it was for informational purposes that he was visiting them". My question here is: "Have you ever heard of a County Administrator/Manager making personal appearances to particular groups or individuals for the passage of a referendum that the county has put on a ballot??" As reported by the County Manager, in an earlier meeting, (when??) Phil Carson, one of the County Commissioners, had requested that the money be spent on new school construction. Since this is a non-repealed tax at what point does one stop new building construction, at some point there will be no need for new buildings. But, the tax is on going, just what will it be used for next?? As the old saying goes: "the more you got, the more you spend". Supposedly, the ABC stores were to end educational shortfalls, then a few years ago, "the Educational Lottery" was to end the need for new taxes. Something has a stench here. How many taxes have you ever know of that have ever been repealed? None I recall, and I ain't that old.

I think they (the government types)are operating on the principle that "There's a sucker born every minute."
So far, they are pretty much on the money. Thanks to people like you, maybe they can be stopped.
